This invention relates to a hydrosilation process involving the reaction of a compound containing siliconbonded hydrogen with a compound containing aliphatic unsaturation in the presence of actinic radiation and to, compositions which contain an actinic radiation-sensitive catalyst that are useful in said process. Numerous patents teach the use of various complexes of cobalt, rhodium, or platinum as catalysts for accelerating the thermally-activated addition reaction (hydrosilation) between a compound containing siliconbonded hydrogen and a compound containing aliphatic unsaturation. However, processes for accelerating the ultraviolet radiation activated addition reactions between these …

Why it's free to use
- Granted January 26, 1988. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 26, 2005.
