Abstract From the Canadian patent

Inventor: KENNETH P. GRAY, Title: APPARATUS FOR ASSEMBLING TUBES IN A HEAT EXCHANGER, Abstract of the Disclosure, Apparatus for expanding hairpin tubes into a fin pack unit that involves a special clamping fixture for securing the belled ends of the tubes to hold the ends of the tubes immobile as tube expanders are passed through the tubes to expand the tube walls in the fin plates and tube sheets of the unit. The tubes are expanded in tension which permits the bells to be formed against one of the tube sheets thereby eliminating the weakest region in the heat exchanger flow circuit.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 26, 1988. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 26, 2005.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
