Abstract From the Canadian patent

The soluble fractions of facultative organisms grown on C1 compounds are capable of oxidizing organic compounds in the presence of a cofactor system comprising NADH2 or NADPH2. The soluble fraction is obtained by aerobically growing the microorganism in a fermentor under continuous gassing with a mixture of a C1 compound and air and, initially, carbon dioxide before harvesting. Preferably the C1 compound is methane. One facultative organism which is useful in the microbiological oxidation of oxidizable organic substrates is Methylobacterium organophilum (CRL.26 NRRL B-11,222). This newly discovered and isolated methylotrophic microorganism strain and its natural and/or artificial mutants …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted December 16, 1986. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended December 16, 2003.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
