Abstract From the Canadian patent

Disclosed is a memory unit for use in a data processing system. The data processing system specifies memory locations with virtual addresses. First and second virtual stores are addressed by the virtual addresses. A real store, such as a mainstore, is addressed by real addresses. A virtual-to-real translator translates virtual addresses to provide real addresses whenever a real address corresponding to a virtual address is required.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted September 23, 1986. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended September 23, 2003.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
