Abstract From the Canadian patent

An inertia switch device has an inertia mass which is movable from a rest position as a result of acceleration or deceleration in excess of a given threshold value to cause a hinge-like assembly having two parts to pivot between two over-centre positions on either side of a centre position in which the two parts occupy a common plane and thereby cause movable electrical contacts forming part of the hingelike assembly to engage or separate from further electrical contacts.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted May 20, 1986. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 20, 2003.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
