A device for attaching a withdrawal cord of a tampon in the form of a wound spiral, and in particular a tampon for female hygiene, to the withdrawal end thereof. The device comprises a centering mandrel which is movable coaxially to a cylindrical mold which is to receive the tampon. The mandrel is surrounded by an axially movable push-off ram for the withdrawal cord which is wound around the centering mandrel, the diameter of which is smaller than the clear diameter of the mold. The mold which at, the end away from the centering mandrel is associated with an abutment for the tampon, wherein the front end of the push-off ram is surrounded by a driver for the withdrawal cord.
