Electrostatic printing is disclosed in which an electrostatic latent image is formed on an imaging roller toned, and transferred by pressure to plain paper. Toner transfer efficiency is improved by providing a skew between the dielectric imaging roller and a pressure roller. The latent image is formed by an ion generator consisting of two electrodes separated by a mica dielectric. The ion generator is fabricated by laminating a metal foil to mica using pressure sensitive adhesive, and etching the foil to form electrodes. An alternative ion generator consists of a dielectric-coated wire and a series of transverse conductors. A preferred method of fabricating the dielectric roller involves …

Why it's free to use
- Granted May 28, 1985. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 28, 2002.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
