Abstract From the Canadian patent

95-, Abstract, A process is disclosed for coal liquification hydrogenation and cracking by contacting a cracking catalsyt bearing at least about 1500 nickel equivalents of heavy metals with a charge stock comprising slurried and/or dissolved coal in a progressive flow reactor such as a riser. The conditions of contact are such that hydrogen is formed in the reaction stream such as, by dehydrogenation of the oil in the presence of the high metals containing catalyst. Optionally a hydrogen, donor material may be present in the reaction zone so as to yield mobile hydrogen in the absence of added molecular hydrogen.
