The specification describes a transfer apparatus for transferring easily bruised solids the apparatus having, two closed tanks each of which has a porous plate across its interior for dividing the tank into a liquid chamber and a solids chamber. Each tank has a discharge opening in the bottom of the solids chamber for discharging solid and liquid therefrom. A discharge valve means is provided in the discharge opening means and may be opened when the tank is under pressure for discharging liquids and solids.
