Abstract From the Canadian patent

George Charles WARD, Thomas Noel WILSON; and Uday Kumar SINHA, ABSTRACT, An improved continuously cast steel bar having a more uniform distribution of constituents and impurities to thereby provide a better cast steel product for subsequent processing. The novel continuously cast steel bar has when, measured in transverse cross-section particularly low and, consistent variations in average oxygen content average, carbon content, average sulfur content and average manganese, content while possessing a tensile strength in the as-cast condition that is approximately ten percent greater than ascast steel bars cast from the same melt but using a commercially proven prior art process.
