Abstract From the Canadian patent

Circuit for detecting a fault current in an installation where the load (RL) varies upon request. Current (IS) is converted into a voltage (VS). During an initialization cycle, means such as a counter, ditital-to-analog converter comparator, registers (R1 R2) generate a voltage (VC) equal to (VS) at the end of the initialization cycle and a threshold voltage (VD=kVC). During operation voltage (VS), is compared with threshold (VD) in order to provide a fault detection indication which is transmitted to the protection circuit by a logic circuit, that is, an AND gate and an OR gate. During the initialization cycle, protection is obtained by comparing (VS) with a reference voltage in the …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted April 10, 1984. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended April 10, 2001.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
