Abstract From the Canadian patent

A device for charging a capacitor from an a.c. source via a transformer and rectifier by using at least one auxiliary capacitor for buffer-charging of the charging capacitor. The charge of the capacitor may be used for example, to supply a battery or flasing a light source. Change of the capacitance of the auxiliary capacitor makes it possible to regulate the charging characteristic of the capacitor when charging a battery and to regulate the flash characteristics i.e. intensity and flash frequency, in the case where the charging capacitor is discharged through a flash lamp via a thyristor.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted February 14, 1984. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended February 14, 2001.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
