Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention relates to a semiconductor device and in particular, discloses an optically controllable static induction, thyristor, The thyristor comprises a semiconductor substrate a, pair of main electrode regions formed in at least portions of opposite main surfaces of the substrate. The main electrode regions are of high impurity density of opposite conduction types and at least a portion of the electrode on at least one of the main surfaces is a transparent gate electrode which is provided between the main electrode regions. Means is also provided for irradiating the transparent electrode with light. Thus the, static induction thyristor is controlled optically. The device is used with …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 31, 1984. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 31, 2001.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
