Abstract From the Canadian patent

Apparatus is provided (Fig. 2) for a two phase gas and liquid mixture contact in an absorption tower or reactor (10') having at least one auxiliary bed (22) disposed above the main bed (21). Each auxiliary bed has separate liquid and gas bypasses (24, 23) comprising hollow tubing of relatively different lengths extending through the auxiliary bed (22). The gas bypass tubing (23) projects to a greater height above the auxiliary bed (22) than the liquid bypass tubing (24). This tubing bypass arrangement allows for a low pressure drop bypass of the auxiliary bed to the main bed by the liquid and gas when the auxiliary bed becomes fouled, whereby the apparatus life is substantially prolonged.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 10, 1984. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 10, 2001.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
