Abstract From the Canadian patent

A circuit which detects the presence and absence of a telephone subscriber loop before and, after ringing current is applied to the loop. Coils functioning as magnetic field generating devices and a Hall effects device are used to perform the detection function. Inclusion of a capacitive shunt network limits the responsiveness of the Hall effect device during ringing, permitting use of the device on lines to which multiple ringers are connected.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted December 28, 1982. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended December 28, 1999.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
