Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract, Enhanced efficiency can be achieved in the construction of semiconductor optical energy conversion devices such as solar cells by providing a translucent frequency shifting supporting member with appropriate doping such as Al2O3:Cr+3 (Ruby) that is capable of shifting the wavelength of incident light energy in the direction of greatest efficiency of the semiconductor device. The efficiency can be further enhanced by providing a crystal perfection accommodation region between the active region of the device and the light frequency shifting substrate. YO978-016

Why it's free to use

  • Granted November 30, 1982. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended November 30, 1999.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
