A method of protecting keratinous material from attack by insects that feed on keratin and from feeding damage which, comprises treating the material to be protected with compounds of the formula, wherein each of R1 and R2 independently represents hydrogen fluorine, chlorine, bromine, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or R1 and R2 in the orthoposition to each other together represent the methylenedioxy radical, and R3 represents hydrogen, cyano -C?CH or, -CH-CH2.
