Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention provides a method and apparatus for sampling measurement results when checking a predetermined value of the diameter and/or curvature of a long object such as a log fed forward on conveying equipment. A measuring light beam passes through two break points in the conveying equipment's stationary part, and the conveying equipment's moving part is arranged in an unbroken manner and passes by and through the break points without the object's angular orientation being altered. In doing so, the object is supported by the moving part in a raised conveying position, so that the light can also pass under the object.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted November 23, 1982. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended November 23, 1999.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
