Novel compounds comprising poly(diphenylene ether) backbones having hydrolyzable organosilicon groups bonded thereto are useful in improving adhesion between resinous media and inorganic oxide surfaces. These organo-silicon-grafted polyethers are characterized by the repeating units:, (I), wherein R and R1 are each individually, hydrogen or, methyl; E is the residue obtained by removing the hydroxyl groups from a dihydric polynuclear phenol in which the hydroxyl groups are attached to different nuclei; R2 is a divalent organic radical; R3 is hydrogen or alkyl of up to 4 carbon atoms; n is an integer having a value of from 1 to 3; and X i8 a hydrolyzable group.

Why it's free to use
- Granted November 24, 1981. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended November 24, 1998.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
