There is disclosed herein an article carrier comprising an article supporting panel member which is adapted to be secured to a portion of a motor vehicle and having means provided thereon for securing a rack member enclosing a perimeter area thereof. Additionally, a second panel member may also be provided between the article supporting panel member and vehicle portion to aid in dispersing the article load over a greater surface area of the vehicle.
