The invention relates to novel substituted 4-(2- -thienylmethylamino)-benzoic acid compounds a hypolipidemic, composition containing same and a process for preparing the, compounds. The compounds correspond to the formula wherein R is hydrogen or C1-3 alkyl, and X Y, and Z, independently represent hydrogen chloro, or bromo, with the, proviso that at least one of X Y, and Z is chloro or bromo, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds are useful for lowering serum lipid levels in mammals. 18,307-F
