The present invention relates to a disconnectable connector assembly for optical fibres. The optical fibres are centrally arranged in plug members, and are placed in axially abutting relationship inside the bore of a centering sleeve provided with longitudinal apertures. The sleeve nuts and the centering sleeve are provided with threads affording upon contact and, further screwing movement of the two plug parts an inward radial force, centering and holding the plug parts. The disconnectable assembly has little tolerance is the area of the fibre junction minimizing losses, and simplifies, the manner of centering and locking the fibres during the coupling operation.
