A sheet material for use as a cushioning insole or insertable insole comprising a support layer which comprises a bound web of natural and/or synthetic fibres and a foam plastic layer of closed-celled expanded, cross-, linked polyolefin, the foam layer being welded to the support layer by flame veneering. There may be included a covering layer which is joined to the foam layer by flame veneering also.
