Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention comprises a silicon carbide composition a, process for manufacturing the silicon carbide composition and, an electrical fuel ignitor comprising the silicon carbide composition. The silicon carbide composition comprises hot pressed particulate silicon carbide, and sufficient negative doping elements to reduce the cold volume resistivity of the composition to less than 1.25 ohm-cms, and the ratio of cold to hot resistivities to less than 12 to 1. The composition can be manufactured by hot pressing silicon carbide particles smaller than 20 microns, in a nitrogen containing atmosphere at a temperature from 1800 to 2400°C and a pressure between 70 and 750 Kg/sq. cm until the …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted June 2, 1981. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended June 2, 1998.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
