Case 5-10325/+, Canada, Method of protecting plants against damage by frost and composition for carrying out said method Abstract of the Disclosure, The present invention provides a method and composition of protecting plants, such as fruit, vegetables etc. against damage by frost. The method consists in treating the said plants, before outbreak of frost, with a composition containing as protecting ingredient a sufficient amount of a hydroxamic acid derivative of formula, or, wherein R1 is alkyl cycloalkyl, alkenyl or phenyl, R2 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl R3 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkyl- or aryl-carbonyl alkylcarbamoyl or a cation, and, R4 is the same as R2 or alkyl- and arylcarbonyl.
