Abstract From the Canadian patent

A device for simultaneously stapling (52) and marking (54) a workpiece (56) is disclosed which comprises a main body housing (12) for holding driving staples (20) into a workpiece (56) as well as supporting n removable marking unit (24) positioned in the housing (12) in such a manner as to apply an identifying mark (54) to the workpiece (56) when the workpiece (56) is stapled (52).
