Abstract From the Canadian patent

The plate mill line includes a heating means such as a slab reheating furnace for obtaining the slab rolling temperature. A hot reversing plate mill is positioned downstream of the furnace and is preferably of the four high type. A coiling furnace is positioned on each side of the hot reversing plate mill. Shearing means and finishing means are positioned downstream of the reversing plate mill and the coiler furnaces. A slab to be rolled leaves the furnace and is passed directly to and back and forth though the hot reversing plate mill.
