An apparatus for automatically restoring the loss of high frequency components in the luminance signal of a television receiver is disclosed. The luminance signal is continuously sampled and a signal representing the high frequency content in the luminance signal is used to alter the frequency characteristics of the luminance signal path so as to maintain the frequency spectrum of the luminance signal substantially constant. Additionally the frequency alteration, of the luminance signal path is made responsive to the dynamic level of the video signal to provide increased peaking in the gray picture areas relative to the higher level whites. Why it's free to use

  • Granted December 30, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended December 30, 1997.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
