Abstract From the Canadian patent

A low alloy steel containing about 0.15% carbon; about 0.60% manganese; about 1.25% chromium; about 0.50% molybdenum; less than about 0.75% silicon; about 0.03% titanium; and the balance being essentially iron. The alloy also preferably contains about .004%-.006% boron. The alloy exhibits improved tensile strength at room temperature and improved stress rupture, creep strengths and improved rupture ductility, at 1000°F (538°C) and may be used for pressure vessels, piping, tubing and steam turbine casings. Additions of titanium and boron improve rupture ductility and reduce the susceptibility to intergranular fracture even in the presence of embrittling elements such as phosphorous antimony …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted December 9, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended December 9, 1997.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
