Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention relates to a method for preparing graft copolymers having 2-vinylpyridine branches (or other nitrogencontaining branches) on a backnone consisting of an ethylene/propylene copolymer or an ethylene/propylene/diene terpolymer or other polyolefinic backbone. These graft copolymers are soluble in oil whether of mineral (petroleum) origin or of synthetic nature and, impart thereto improved properties. This invention further relates to lubricating oil compositions and hydrocarbon fuel compositions containing the graft copolymers. They impart several beneficial properties to these fluids, in particular improvements in dispersancy but also enhanced viscosity and viscosity/temperature …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted October 28, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended October 28, 1997.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
