An input/output controller is provided for use in conjunction with a microprocessor unit. The controller has serial transmit/ receive capability, parallel input/output capability interval, timer capability, and vectored interrupt capability. The controller is an MOS N-channel device on a single chip and is packaged in a 40 pin package. The controller is compatible with a Model TMS 8080 microprocessor unit.
