A method and fluid filter apparatus are provided herein. The method effects the cleaning of a clogged fluid filtering member situated in a filter housing between an inlet port and an outlet port of the housing by the steps comprising: utilizing at least a portion of the fluid to be filtered from the inlet port to impart motion to a movable hollow cleaning body provided in the housing in fluid communication with a specially provided valved cleaning outlet port; removing matter unable to pass through the filter element, and carrying the matter into a fluid intake portion of the cleaning body and out the cleaning outlet port; the hollow body being imparted the motion by virtue of the fluid …
