Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present specification describes and claims a valance for use over a doorway or window. The valance basically comprises an elongate member having a generally U-shaped transverse cross-seaction. The elongate member is preferably formed by extrusion and incorporates axially extending channels for supporting a roller blind or a, roller blind together with curtains. In one embodiment the valance is telescopic to thus be adjustable to a curtain degree. Also incorporated on the roller blind are freely rotatable washers which prevents the blind from jamming during retraction.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted July 8, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended July 8, 1997.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
