A method for determining parallax effects in a stereoscopic optical system, such as a binocular range finder is disclosed. Also disclosed is a stereoscopic optical system. An optical grating structure is disposed in the path of imaging flux of optical imaging means of the system and two electrical signals are derived by photoelectric detectors from mutually distinguishable optical fluxes received from the grating structure. The two electrical signals are subtracted from one another and one of the two electrical signals is differemtiated. The difference and differential signals are multiplied together and a control signal is derived from the prodyct signal. The control signal is indicative …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted June 24, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended June 24, 1997.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
