An apparatus forms a woven closed container comprising a case having two end walls and four side walls extending therebetween. The apparatus has a tabletop having dimensions about the same as those of the container end. A strip carrier arranges and grips one end of a plurality of strips in parallel relationship on the table and longitudinally displaces alternate strips by about one strip width. A gripping mechanism grips the opposite end of the strip to reciprocably displace alternate strips from the normal plane of the strips.
