This invention encompasses novel 5-1,1diphenyl-3-(5-or 6-hydroxy-2-azabicyclo2.2.2oct-2-yl)propyl-2-alkyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles and their lower Oalkanoyl derivatives. These compounds are useful antidiarrheal agents and also possess little or no analgesic activity. These compounds are prepared by reacting the appropriate tetrazoles in the presence of a solvent such as pyridine with a suitable anhydride or acid chloride to give the oxadiazoles, optionally followed by alkaline hydrolysis to yield the 5-or 6-hydroxy compounds.

Why it's free to use
- Granted May 27, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 27, 1997.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
