A highly absorbent and fragile composite sheet normally used as a throwaway domestic wiper is quickly and easily converted to a strong and attractive colored wallcovering. Thus, a composite layer comprising a net material sandwiched between and bonded to a pair of cellulosic-fleece (wadding) layers has a carrier sheet of paper bonded thereto, has colorant applied thereto and is impregnated with a synthetic resinous bonding medium so that the fleece layers are bonded together at the mesh openings of the net material.
