Abstract From the Canadian patent

PREPARATION OF N-(AMINOALKYL)PIPERAZINE (D#75,005-4-F), Abstract of the Disclosure An improved process for selectively preparing an N-(aminoalkyl)piperazine compound is disclosed wherein piperazine is contacted with a primary or secondary amino alkanol compound in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of a phosphorus-containing substance at a temperature of from about 250°C to about 350°C under a pressure sufficient to maintain the mixture essentially in liquid phase and the N-(aminoalkyl)piperazine is then recovered from the resultant reaction mixture. In a preferred embodiment piperazine is contacted with monoethanolamine to produce N-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 22, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 22, 1997.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
