Abstract From the Canadian patent

A process for the synthesis of N-aryl-2-methyl-4hydroxy-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxamide 1,1-dioxides by methylation of an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of N-aryl- 4-hydxoxy-2H-1,2-benæothiazine-3-carboxamide 1,1-dioxides in a reaction-inert solvent at 0-100°C. said products being antiinflammatory agents.
