Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract of the Disclosure, To protect a motor from overheating its temperature, is simulated at a point remote from the motor and the motor voltage is controlled to prevent overheating. The simulator comprises a cube of copper carrying a pair of heating elements: one being heated by a current proportional to motor current and the other heated by a current proportional to motor power. A temperature detector on the cube detects temperature corresponding to critical motor temperatures and is used to control motor energization.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 8, 1980. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 8, 1997.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
