The following specification discloses a prefabricated building component for use as a rafter, stud or joist and comprises the following elements; a first wooden member of rectangular cross section has a pair of planar side faces aligned in planar relationship with a pair of planar side faces of a second wooden chord member of rectangular cross section. A first sheet steel web plate is spaced between said chord members and partially overlies one of the side faces of the first wooden member and partially overlies the adjacent side face of the second wooden member.
