Abstract From the Canadian patent

A variable resistance control unit is improved by the manner in which its shaft rotates in a bushing. A sleeve is trapped in a counter bore of the bushing and the sleeve has a rib in its bore to provide an interference fit with the shaft which extends through the sleeve.
