A flexible elastic ring having a generally rectangular cross section with radially inner and outer surfaces. A plurality of rigid members are molded in the ring at circumferentially spaced-apart positions and each of the rigid members extends diagonally from an edge at the radially inner surface to an edge at the radially outer surface of the elastic ring. The ring is mounted in a wheel well of the tire rim with the tire bead overlapping the edge at the radially outer surface to hold down the ring and the ends of the rigid members in that edge.
