A compressor valve comprises a valve body with a plurality of elongated slotted openings. A valve head is secured to the valve body through a peripheral wall which defines a valve chamber. A one-piece valve closure plate is disposed within the valve chamber and is similarly formed with a plurality of slotted openings which are, however out of registration, or alignment with the slotted openings in the valve body.
