The press brake safety device includes a vertically movable guard for moving in advance of the press brake ram a light-, weight protector bar movably positioned on the lower edge of the guard for vertical upward movement and means operably connecting an actuation means for the ram to the ram drive means connect the protector bar and the air operated means to actuate such last named means when the protector bar is moved downwardly by actuation of the press brake for guard is being moved downwardly by actuation of the press brake for work engaging action.
