A photo sequence programmer has a rotary transparent cylinder with a plurality of light-emitting elements disposed inside the cylinder and a plurality of light-receiving elements disposed outside the cylinder, so that each light-emitting element faces a light-receiving element through the transparent cylinder between them. Opaque tapes are attached on the surface of the cylinder in accordance with a predetermined arrangement to effect interruption of light being transmitted from the light-emitting elements to the light-receiving elements in a predetermined sequence as said cylinder rotates.
