Slabs of gum stacked in a pivotally supported toploaded magazine are successively fed from the bottom of the magazine by a pusher mechanism which includes at least one pusher finger supported for forward and rearward reciprocal movement between a pair of adjacent guide plates. The forward portion of the pusher finger is disposed between the guide plates and below the upper surfaces of the plates when the pusher finger is retracted to its rearward position so that the upper surfaces of the guides plates define the bottom of the magazine, The rear portion of the pusher finger is disposed above the upper surfaces of the guide plates and defines the bottom of the magazine when the pusher finger …
