A control circuit for a regulator circuit of the type in which the regulator output voltage and current are dependent upon the phase angle between an unregulated a-c input voltage wave and a regulating or control voltage wave. The control circuit generates a reference signal that is locked in phase with the a-c input voltage wave and a control signal that is locked in phase with the control voltage wave. Output voltage sensing circuitry is arranged to increase or decrease the phase angle between the control signal and the reference signal as, required, to maintain the output voltage of the regulator at the desired, regulated value.
