Imidazole derivatives of the general formula I which are active against dermatophytes yeasts, protozoa, and, gram positive and gram negative bacteria are produced, for, example, by reacting a compound of the formula II with imidazole for an alkali metal salt thereof. In the above formulae, Z represents a direct bond or a group of the formula , in which n represents 0, 1 or 2, and R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, which phenyl group may be substituted by one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms alkyl groups, containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms alkoxy groups containing 1 to 6, carbon atoms and nitro groups; R2 and R3 each …
