Abstract From the Canadian patent

A pad mounted electrode tool is utilized to provide a mudcake detection technique which can determine the presence of mudcake and distinguish between mudcake and shale formations. This is accomplished by detecting the main and auxiliary currents of the tool and producing therefrom two parameters. The parameters then provide an indication of the presence or absence of mudcake and hence the location of permeable zones in the formation.

  • Granted March 27, 1979. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended March 27, 1996.
